Bamboo/vinyl/tongue in groove flooring advice?

hezwez, Jun 19, 4:23am
Hi, am titivating the kitchen and wondering about cost/wear comparisons for compressed bamboo flooring versus semi commercial vinyl or tongue in groove. I'm a complete novice at this and it would be installed professionally but I'd like ideas please. TIA

Of those 3 for a kitchen I would prefer seamless vinyl, with 'pencil coved' skirting boards.

Thanks Zak. I didn't know seamless vinyl was available.

You are welcome. Installers can weld it if needed to be more exact, makes it seamless.

Bamboo is real wood. A risk in wet areas but still used a lot by people. Beautiful flooring.

Bamboo is a grass actually.

I'm a big fan of modern vinyl floor coverings, things have come a long way since the old 'linoleum' days!

For kitchen and/or bathroom areas I'd recommend using a homogeneous vinyl (the pattern goes all the way through) as opposed to a heterogeneous vinyl where the pattern is just printed on the surface.

Modern vinyls come in 3 meter rolls so you can have few or no joins.
