Yeah I normally leave all paint, otherwise my garage would be loaded with part cans that I couldn't use again, as everyone picks different colours.

As for paint receipts - The cost of paint is normally built in to the quote. Unless the painter has given a price excluding paint, in that case you would need the receipts to prove value of paint

I've used acrylic gib sealers in bathrooms for 20+ years, with both lusta glo and lustacryl, I have never had a complaint about paint failure.
Sure, pigmented sealers may be the best product for worst case scenario situations, but QD etc are more than adequate for the job.
If the bathroom has terrible ventilation and likely to have moisture issues, sure seal is obviously advisable.

Primer doesnt seal the plaster too well and you may see a difference in sheen on the stopping compared to the Gib.
