I have nearly completed an addition to my home and one of the last things needed for code compliance is connection of new down pipe to the storm water. When I had the drain layer take a look we found that the other 3 down pipes go straight into nova flow pipes and are buried. It seems there has never been a storm water connection. Does anyone know if I can put the new dawn pipe to a soak pit as I don't have the coin to connect all 4 to new storm water as I am a back section. I'm in chch.

Could be different where you are, I got told by local council inspector that where I am they no longer allow new stormwater connections (to the gutter). If I had to do any additions to my downpipe system then I would need a new approved soak pit for that connection.
He stated that there were requirements for any new soak pits, you can get recommended plans from the local council office. Design involved using one of those hulme (or similar) concrete pipe sections buried on its side, filled with appropriate material and covered with a lid. Typical cost about $2K all up.
I haven't done it. This is just what the inspector told me. You need to check with your local council and they might have approved designs to do what you want to do.
Of course you could just do what was done for your other downpipes and if your existing drainage is fine then so probably will be the new one, but it sounds like this particular job is already on the council radar as part of the consent signoff for the home addition. That means it will have to be done the current council approved way, so you might as well go see them.

You still have to manage any excess once your tank is full so makes not difference.

2K for a soak hole. . blimin heck. All I did a few years ago was dig a 1.5m deep hole & back fill it will rock & gravel /down pipe in the side then cap it off with a plastic lid to stop any top cap dirt going down.

In this weather, you could sell off any excess

Exactly the same for us,also ChCh-back section, never connected to storm water.I looked into it a few years ago,and it was going to cost K$6 to connect to the road!Since then we just endure the 2-or so floods we get each year in winter.

Mark the worst spot, dig a freaking deep hole & back fill it with rock & gravel. Cap it with a loose mesh "weedmat" & cover with dirt again & then simply re-grass. This will work well as long as the flooded bit is generally higher then the average water table height.

Got some details from the council and may be able to run nova flow the length of the new extension, into permable ground, which I assume a chip driveway is!
