Name of tree-stump paste please?

hezwez, Mar 22, 2:51pm
Along with a big garden clearout, the arborist was going to chop a small but pesky sycamore and "put paste on it". It was overlooked and I can deal to it, if I knew what product to buy. Please help?

If not in a hurry, drill holes in the stump and fill with water.

I drilled holes in the stump and then used a paste made from Epsom Salts & baking soda & water. Spread liberally over the whole stump then covered it with a shower cap (or some other sort of cover so the rain doesn't wash it off). It took a couple of years but then easily came apart in my hands and was gone. Good luck.

I got a stump out of the ground with a petrol powered waterblaster while chopping away at the roots, its messy but it worked.

Oil, the thing you put on wood to preserve it. it will kill the area around it for a long long time, while a sycamore will probably resprout because its root system runs deeper than where the oil will pollute. I get called in to grind many stumps after the waste oil and diesel have failed to have any effect on the one thing people want to kill

Cut and paste is good enough, dont put it on top, you need to put small cuts into side of stump with a hatchet or handsaw and put poison in the cuts.
Escort will work best if you leave it a bit to resprout and apply it to the leaves

I found that Vigilant (a gel) was very effective. There could be a problem with any trees close by with the poison transferring through the roots to other plants.

One part roundup to 2 parts diesel and paint on the stump.
Brilliant!

what ever you put on needs to be done pretty much straight away as the plant/tree seals the cut very quickly .

Will have to try this on the elderberry trees that keep resprouting! Thanks
