It's hard to tell from the photo but could it be a Paulownia!

It's definitely Jacaranda; paulownia won't be flowering at the moment and they will have large leaves.

Gorgeous trees. I'm just back from a stay in the Perth Hills, which is alive with purple right now.Defjacaranda - not paulownia.
