How do u make a pattern for cutting plywood

Have a project caravan and am at the point now where it needs lined with ply. My question is, how do I cut the ply into all the intricate shapes around curved Windows, beds and cupboards etc without having to cut lots of little shapes (which would then need joiners which look ugly).

make correct shape out of cardboard first - then use as template to cut ply.

Get a sheet of 4mm MDF. Rip it into strips roughly 50mm wide. Use a hot glue gun to stick the pieces together around the outline of the shape. cut curves into the strips as necessary. Push the strips into concave/convex curves, tack with hot glue. Brace the whole "pattern", gently pick it off at the tack ponts and lay it on your sheet of ply. Draw around it and cut. Remember to allow an extra 5mm or so at edges that are exposed and require bevelling.

For smaller shapes, you could use a shadow gauge.

Get hold of the box that a new fridge come in for a source of good, clean, flat, quite stout cardboard.
