Need to cut some up and dont have a carbon tipped blade for my circular saw so will probably use the "score and snap" method. Should I score the grained side or the smooth sideor both sides! Or can I use my "Renovator " tool! Thanks.

I think these instructions apply, so do some research before using the saw:
OUTDOORS 1. Position cutting station so that wind will blow dust away from user and others in working area. 2. Use one of the following methods: a. Best: i. Score and snap ii. Shears (manual, electric or pneumatic) b. Better: i. Dust reducing circular saw equipped with a HardieBlade® saw blade and HEPA vacuum extraction c. Good: i. Dust reducing circular saw with a HardieBlade saw blade (only use for low to moderate cutting) INDOORS 1. Cut only using score and snap, or shears (manual, electric or pneumatic). 2. Position cutting station in well-ventilated area - NEVER use a power saw indoors - NEVER use a circular saw blade that does not carry the HardieBlade saw blade trademark - NEVER dry sweep ??

Dont know about consulting a qualified industrial hygienist for a DIY job. Just commonsense re the dust. Personally I have found using the score and snap is the best way but make sure the score line is deep and even. AND little or no dust.

Thats the best for small jobs. Score both sides if you can and clamp a brace or something along the score line to prevent it breaking anywhere but the score line
