Mmmm, from the wheel's point of view, it is spinning to its right (facing outward, or to your left facing the other way,) so for safety, the flange should undo the opposite way, i.e, undo to your right, clockwise.

Anti-clockwise on mine (Hitachi). Take a look at how the pitch of the thread on the spindle disappears into the flange, that'll tell you.

As far as I am aware, all brands of disc grinders unscrew in the anti-clockwise direction; as others have said above.
