It has got hundreds of ants under the leaves. Anyway to stop them and also get rid of the ones under the leaves.

The ants are probably there because you have an infestation of some other insect. Probably aphis, get rid of the aphis and the ants will leave. Ants won't harm your plant but they will cultivate aphis as they provide sweet food for the ants.

Thankyou. It could also be the white fly they are after.

Of course they will go after both.

Ants will be after the sugary excretions of other residents. Best put some ant bait at the base of the tree. That way if the residents are beneficial you will not kill them in the process of getting rid of the ants. However the residents are probably a problem as well, so get some serious insecticide onto the tree asap.

Thanks. Sprayed and then went away for 2 weeks. Now we don't have the ants and the tree is looking nice and healthy again.

sorry to burst your bubble but from now on as it gets warmer your tamarillo is likely to be attacked by potato physillid as well .you have done well to keep it alive thus far in waipuk?but I wish you luck in getting any fruit off it?

It is flowering. My concern as always, is the white fly. Problems with that every year.
