Acid washing concrete question

2girls3, Dec 6, 6:04pm
I am having some concrete laid around a pool area and am thinking of acid washing it to give it more grip and stop it being so slippery. I already have paving as a border around the pool and don't want to get these damaged by the acid wash. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions to avoid getting the acid wash on the pavers. Also interested in opinions of the acid wash. TIA

Step 2 - Create a Barrier

If you are planning to acid wash near asphalt, drywall, or tarmac, then it is important to create a barrier. The acid that you are going to use can damage any of these materials. You can use a tarp, plywood, or stones in order to block the flow of acid and water.

Plenty of info on Google.

Get them to either brush the concrete or do exposed agg with smaller aggregate. Acid washing won't rough the concrete up enough to be non slip. And if you still want to acid wash, then do round the edge with a 100mm paint brush.

get contractor to do a sponge finish, have seen it done in a fan shape, looks very nice.
