I have before and it's fine, just might have to reapply later on. I have used cooking oil in the past to, and for my squeaky doors. Just depends were its sitting like is their heaps of sun etc and how large.

There is a reason it is labeled for indoor use, but why not try it and see. Usually indoor stuff has no UV protection.
