Weed Killer

amph981, Dec 22, 6:03pm
I need to kill a patch of mostly buffalo or couch grass, ( the stuff that grows in most council reserves here in Auckland) but I have some free range chooks and this patch is part of their area, I can't easily fence them out so need something that would be ok if I sprayed in the evening and be ok in the morning. Any suggestions? Tia.

roundup, we often spray paddocks with it, then graze it later that same day

some farmers spray their silage paddocks with roundup the day before cutting - it increases the available sugars in the resulting silage, which is feed to his cows

Watkins weed killer is the same as roundup but about a third of the price.

Set your lawnmower to the lowest possible setting and run it over :)

You have to be nuts. I would suggest you have a look at what the side effects that roundup has on animals & humans before you start printing that sort of information.

Oh sorry I'm just an ex orchardist, and pest controller with a Post Grad Dip in HSE , I don't know much about these things so I like to get it right when somebody imparts such wisdom.!
