Hello

I have quite a bit of this weed in my lawn

Can anyone identify it for me please.

The leaves are about 2 or 3 cm in diameter and the clumps of the weed can get u to 10 or 15cm wide.

looks a bit like buttercup? which has a yellow flower in summer.

No but I have it too. send out long tendrills that also start new plants

Ground ivy (Glechoma hederacea).

ruby2shoes, Sep 3, 1:41am
nah I reckon it might be of the geranium family?

digmen1, Sep 3, 1:42am
Mmm.
Thanks for the clue re Buttercups. I think that might be it, as they do have yellow flowers.

rainrain1, Sep 3, 3:10am
That's not buttercup

fantail8, Sep 3, 3:22am
not buttercup. leaves aren't the right shade of green and don't have enough indentations on them. As a dairy farmer I know butter cup and wish I didn't lol

or a mallow or speedwell! Helpful, I know!

I am fairly certain it is one of the geranium family certainly none of the others. Try google lawn geranium

Nut weed by the look of it. Spreads very easily. If you pull it out, put it in the rubbish bin to go to the tip.
Edit to add not nut grass which is a different kettle of fish!

kendall40, Sep 3, 4:22am
Yes, that is the correct name for it.

pestri, Sep 3, 4:40am
Kikuyu.

There are some pretty wild guesses on here all misleading

ro42, Sep 3, 6:15am
If you crush a leaf and smell it and it smells a bit 'minty' it's probably ground ivy (aka lawn geranium - it's the same thing).
Or it It could be a hydrocotyle - lawn pennywort?

ruby2shoes, Sep 3, 6:26am
lol, I think thats the part of the lawn they like!

ruby2shoes, Sep 3, 6:27am
yeah, and. ?

golfdiver, Sep 3, 6:42am
It's coffee cup! Are you growing your products now?

digmen1, Sep 3, 7:24am
Its definitely not Kikuyu - I hate that as well.

digmen1, Sep 3, 7:27am
Thanks for all the suggestions.

You have given me a couple of clues.

I need to check some of them out.

I may post a better photo in a day or so when it stops raining.
It does have a very unusual stem - node system above the ground. Not sure what they are called. It does not have a flower at the moment, but some leaves go yellow and look like flowers.

It's not Hydrocotyle either
