Magic tree: Multi-blossom hybrid

A green-fingered New York art professor has created an amazing horticultural hybrid, the Tree of 40 Fruit, which yields different colored blossoms and a variety of fruits all at once.

Neat eh?

I was watching that Living show on tv One on Friday night and was a little taken aback by the reaction to one presenter who said he was growing an apple tree from seed. The others seemed convinced this was an amazing achievement, and so clever.

They should see this.

Looks photo shopped to me, colours unnatural and too bright. Waiting to see what happens next. Sorry I'm a skeptic.

#2- yes very neat I think too.

From the original link:
"He first began his grafting technique in 2008, and depending on when the tree is planted it takes about five years to develop each tree and graft 40 varieties to the host.To date, Van Aken has created and placed 16 trees in museums, community centers, and private art collections around the country from California to Massachusetts. In the future, he aspires to create a grove or small orchard of hybrids in an urban setting."

Saw this awhile ago, definitely not a hoax, its amazing. Imagine these in suburban gardens, you would only need one tree! In theory any good gardener with grafting skills and a lot of time could do it.
