Did you know you can domesticate a possum and treat it just like a cat. I know it's illegal,but if you get a young one they will live with you if you feed it, but you can't train it like a dog. Not that you would want to but i have seen it done from wild .

Friends of ours kept one from a baby in a big aviary. It grew somewhat into a huge silver possum. Bit of a useless pet, can't let it out as its so damn destructive and pretty vicious with the claws. Not like you can take it for a walk or have it on your knee.

You can just let them wander about inside if you wished.They won't bother you except to climb on everything higher than you.They are useless,but you can domesticate them.

In the mean time get some bird netting, throw over tree and then pull all sides in (not tight) to gather at trunk and tie off.

Well, we got a timms trap last weekend from the possum blitz lady, set it last night about 3m up a tree so no cats would go near it, and this morning there is a big fat possum in it!

Easy to deal with. Put cage in sack. Car exhaust into sack. Leave running for a few minutes. (outside not in your garage) Must be petrol not diesel and older car without cat on exhaust is better. (my old Landrover is ideal)
