I thought I would be clever and labelled the stakes, (by each plant) with plastic tags tied on with string, some of the tags disappeared overnight. Re-labeled them if variety known, but some labels have gone again. I think birds decided to undo the knots on the string and used it for nests! Can't win! Want to save seed and grown new varieties but can't identify some of them. have to pick them green to save them from the birds too! Grrr!

Doing well. I only grow tomatoes in the glasshouse.
This year, I'm using dilute liquid fertiliser every other day and watering more often so the ground never dries out.
Forget the soaking the ground twice a week business, it doesn't work for my glasshouse. No mildew problems either, so far. Picked the first handful of cherry tomatoes last week.

EDIT: This year, instead of buying plants, I grew the tomatoes from self sown seed from last year's crop. Wonder if this is making a difference too in plant quality.

We over watered last year in the tunnel house and didn't get many tomatoes. This year only watering about twice a week depending on the weather. Results looking better.

My tomatoes are past the first good flush of fruit now.
I'm growing different varieties that I normally would in the glasshouse. I have the usual potentate but also growing Hamlet, which is amazing! Nice sweet medium size fruit , bumper crop and a slender open plant. Will grow that one again and Peron, named after Eva Peron. That fruit is crazy. Orangey skin, large heart shaped fruit which is very red and fleshy. So good! And Costelluto di Parma. Tasty but not again.

I've still got about 1/2 of my tom plants that havnt given me any ripe tomatoes yet. Getting quite a few of the yellow cherry which is just as well as its my fav. Had a few pink brandywine which are so yummy sliced up on toast. I've started putting the sprinkler on them every 2nd day and giving them a reasonable soaking. The whole garden seems to be doing quite well considering its a new garden and the soil was cr#p. (new house) I put in heaps of compost, sheep pellets and liquid feed (Weekly)with fish fert and seasol.

I have one Sweet 100 and one Roma in pots on the deck facing east. Picking a handful off each plant every day for about 3 weeks now.Nice tasty fruit. Last year I got no fruit. My neighbour over the fence has had nothing from his plants yet.

Our seed sown beefsteak ripening now, lots of large fruit, a very good crop, have fed them regularly with home-made seaweed brew, has helped heaps this year, sadly pumpkin and cucumber not so good, lots of flowers but I think maybe not being fertilised from the bees, no fruit setting at all, very disappointed, hope they are ok

The leaves on the bottom of my 2 mini tomato plants are turning yellow is this a watering problem?

Good day. advice please. we stared a small veg garden and saw the leaves have holes in and being eaten. We have cats and was wondering what we can use. Also the tomatoes seem to break the stems. Can we lay them on a mesh to help with the weight?

Fantastic, apart from those little black bugs. Planted in early October,so just missed a Christmas tomato. 6 plants from mitre 10. At the end now, but given a few bags away and made 6 jars of tom sauce. My next lot grown from seed are just about turning red. Beefstakes. A few self seeded that are coming along, and just planted another 6 from mitre 10 as they say summer will last til April up here, so hope to get tom's through til then. Bird's have feasted on my plums this year so have left my toms alone. Last year I got about 6 plums and a dozen toms, pitiful.

All the leaves below the fruit stems should be removed.
I have picked Toms from xmas eve, not a pretty lot to look at, but fruit everywhere.Got mildew, and some bugs, so have had to spray twice to keep under control, and now waiting for the 14 day with-holding period before picking heaps more.

I sowed mine from seed and they took forever to mature enough to plant out. Fortunately with the awesome January heat they are now ripening nicely and I picked our first ones a few days ago with many more to follow soon.

At last I am picking and they are gorgeous. I planted large yellow low acid this season, and they are both beautiful to look at and delicious to eat. I'll be saving seed.
