What type of tree is it - cabbage tree?

ive25506, Feb 1, 9:42am
do not know

Either drilled intentionally or a borer issue. looks sorta like cyrptomeria japonica.

Definitely a type of borer-you may need to treat the whole tree with a systemic pest killer-ask at your local nursery.

I do not know what this is but very much doubt it is borer. Borer leave holes with very fine sawdust behind them. guessing it is sap from tree due to some type of damage. What is the tree and does the rest of it show some sort of damage, is it being compromised by this issue?

Am I getting the same picture? Looks like a Huhu grub or a moth larvae to me. Is it an "old man" pine?

Healthy cherry trees will leak a clear jelly on the trunk, sometimes after a lot of rain. Nothing to do with borer.
