Pole saw/Pruner (electric)

You know, The chainsaw on a stick. Have been googling, & can only find a couple of models of Ryobi at Bunnings. Nothing against Ryobi electrical gear, but would like something to compare it against. Not much on here either. Just one obscure brand. Don't want the expense of a decent petrol model, as it will only get occasional use, & don't want a cheap petrol model, as from experience, I'll probably spend more time fixing it than using it, so anybody noticed any other reasonably mainstream brands -electric - about? Cordless or corded is ok. TIA.

We have a stihl one, mains powered, it is fantastic.

Judging by how much grunt this one uses, it would take a mighty good battery to keep one going for long.

Thanks kenw1. Have a Stihl Chainsaw & line trimmer, so I know how good the brand is, but this is occasional use, & only to stop me maiming myself trying to use a chainsaw up a ladder, so not all that important. I'm past my YBD anyway. Trying to keep lower than about $400.

Mitre 10 were selling a Black & Decker one recently with a free spare battery

Thanks Tigra. Have rechecked them & can't find anything. Worse, Ryobi only sell thru Bunnings, & Bunnings don't seem to do on-line sales or delivery. (I'm on Gt Barrier Island, so that is essential). May have to fork out for the Stihl.

Couple of B & D either new, or I missed on TM now.

Richard I'll be at Mitre 10 Mega in the next day or so. I\ll have a look for you. they were featured in their last mailer.

Mitre 10 have a rachet cord operated trimmer/cutter on an extendable pole. About $45 / $50.
Had one for years and it does the job that any powered trimmer will do. It also has an awesome removable vicious curved saw blade that whips through the big stuff - just don't stand underneath the branches though !

I am pretty sure dad got that 'obscure brand' he is more than happy with it, and parts are not an issue, and they have great back up and service. He doesn't usually buy crap either, but took a punt on this.

I had a quick look. There a couple of obscure brands on here at the mo. I believe his one is Chch based.

Thank you all. Have managed a phone order thru Bunnings, & gone for a Ryobi 36V cordless. The cost of the Courier Bunnings use would make your eyes water though!
