Limiting speed on electric bike

I have a wee electric bike I'm fixing up, and my daughter has asked me for a 'motorbike' for her 5th bday. This bike can get up to 50km/h as it is, so what's the best way to limit the speed on it but leave it able to be reinstated to its full glory later! Would a battery with less oomph do it!

Lower voltage battery would make it slower, yes.

Lowering the input voltage may not do it.it may cause it to not work at all. The bike may have electronic speed control which relies on the full battery voltage to operate the electronics and the speed regulation is done throu some sort of "pulse width" control.
Perhaps you could use some sort of physical device that would limit how much the throttle can be turned or pedal depressed.
If you had access to the circuit diagram and were handy with thing electronic, a modification to the throttle circuit could be possible. it will most likely just be a potentiometer and inserting a fixed resistor, of a suitable value, could do it !

Can you change the back wheel's cog to a larger one to modify the gearing !
