Himalayan Strawberry

also known as the Dogwood Strawberry I believe (Cornus Caputata) I planted these about 4 years ago and one has grown well but no fruit on either. I'm in the Hutt Valley. Anybody had any experience with these and maybe can even tell me how to encourage them to fruit.

Why do you want fruit? Not a fruit humans find tasty at all! Birds like em tho. I would imagine, if it flowers, then fruit should follow. Got tired of the mess mine made and chopped it down.

Yeah, fruiting Cornus Capitata is over-rated. The birds loved them though. I took my 5 out and replaced them with fruit that I can try and race the birds to. They are good trees for a dry spot and certainly were quite pretty, but the fruit has big lumps of seeds all through them and not edible (in my opinion). I got mine for a low maintenance dry yard that I wanted evergreens in. ended up doing the whole vege/fruit garden after 15 years.

Quite happy to have something to distract the birds from my other fruit.
