yes amagnolia, tulips has small flowers tulip shape., there are so many varieties it is not san jose

vanplants .co.nz has several on his web site

go to the Hamilton gardens and have a look at what is in flower, see if you could take a flower with you.

definitely magnolia.Maybe magnolia 'vulcan'!.If not, vulcan is a very nice one.

With that upright, pyramidal form it is most likely to be one of the following - Felix, Burgundy Star, Cleopatra, Shirazz or Vulcan. At least, that's my take on it. Lovely tree.

Definitely Magnolia Felix (also known as Magnolia Felix Jury). I know this because it is one of our magnolias - bred by my husband and named for his father. www.jury.co.nz Should be widely available from garden centres.
