My lemon tree

was planted last year, it's a Lisbon. It's growing well and has a few flowers on it. Is it true that I should remove the flowers so that it fruits properly next year, or just let it be! Have also posted in General. TIA

Generally you don't let the fruit develop on a fruiting tree in its first year of being planted. So if it's been planted for a year or so, then it's ok to fruit up.Although don't let it fruit too much, maybe leave it to a half a dozen or so.Don't pull off the flowers, but remove the small fruit when they occur.

Thank you, that's exactly what I wanted to know. After I posted, I went to have another look at the tree and my 3yo grandson picked two of the flowers, now only have two left.

Actually samyana, nowI'm wondering if it's a Yen Ben.sorry to mislead in any way, but the label is no longer there. It's one or the other and definitely not a Meyer and def from California.

And of course you do know to get the guys to pee on it regularly don't you!

Yen Ben is an improved form of Lisbon - it's our second most popular selling lemon after meyer and I think it's better (more tart, just has more thorns that's all)

If no one willing to pee under it, don't forget to give it a dose of Epsom salts, a couple of times a year, to stop leaves going yellow.
