Advice re skylights

redesign, Jan 3, 3:12pm
We recently moved into our "forever" home and want to have a skylight (or 2) put in the lounge which only gets the avo sun from 1pm on. We have contacted 2x companies for quotes but know the MB is always the best for straight up advice from those who have been there done that. Any tips, pros, cons or suggestions! We are in Akl area.

Solatubes are great for light.

Velux are the best if you need them to open for ventilation.

I have installed both Solatubes and Velux skylights. The velux are a whole different ( better) level of lighting. They can be pricey to install depending on what is involved.

Thanks! I don't think we can use solatubes as we have timber sarked ceilings with little space between the interior and exterior roof. WIll check out velux though.

I got a quote for a solartube for a Lockwood house which would be same as yours, it was $1000.

If its your forever home I would be going with skylights not solar tube and I would go for those ones that automatically close when it's raining.

I have seen both solatube and the velux type installed and the velux ones look better and if you have the space to do it, i would definatly recommend
