After 22 trouble free years we now have a problem. The soap container door will not stay closed. This means we have to do the pre wash then put in the powder and wash. Life can be so cruel. Merry Xmas everyone

Probably can. Will wait till the new year and decide then what to do. In view of age not too sure whether one should just say thank you and move on.

Look closely at what might be causing the problem. It could be that a clip is broken off but perhaps not. Look closely. It could be a build up of powder that is in the way for example or something else jamming the mechanism. Some detective work. I had a family member say that the Bosch soap door did not close but it was simply a matter of a wee bit more pressure needing to be applied.

Turn power off to ithe machine & if it cant close it then its a mechanical problem not electrical my old elba duid it the cklip was stuck probaly by yeas of soap build up . gave it a good clean & fixed

That happened to ours and we were told it would be over $200 to get a new part to fix it. Then the serviceman said "In the meantime just put the dishwasher tablet in the cutlery basket; it works just as well". That begged the question, if that was the case why were we bothering to get the soap compartment fixed? We didn't. From then on we just put the tablet in the cutlery basket. Voila! Problem solved. I know this wouldn't work for loose powder, but still worth switching to the tablets in my opinion.

Thank you all for taking the trouble to reply. More pressure did not help. Will use tablet in the basket method till I investigate further. We often use tablets so probably will be the permanent repair. All good. Safe happy holidays everyone

Why do a pre wash? My soap container door will not open automatically so I just put the soap in the container with the door open. It still washes OK.
