Dishwasher full of foam

The bottom of the dishwasher (Simpson with dial 20 years old) is always full of foam these days. It's causing leaks out the bottom onto the floor. The arms are just pumping air bubbles around. It doesn't clean properly. What could be causing this? Am using Ecostore dishwasher powder - a lot less than recommended and vinegar as rinse aid.

Did you also try and clean it with baking soda?

Geez throw away your moccosins, get into the 21st century and use proper rinse aid!

the powder is crook - buy a pack of Finish or Active and try that.

Are the arms removable for cleaning?. The holes do get blocked over time and need clearing for the water to flow through them.

White vinegar is better than rinse aid.

No one has filled up the powder packet with washing powder have they? Might sound stupid but when we purchased our place it came with a new dishwasher because the original one was foaming when the new one was also foaming it turned out the old dear had refilled the container with dish powder.

20 years old! Buy a new one.

Why create rubbish when it may be an easy fix and the older stuff is far better quality than the junk they sell these days. people are too quick to throw stuff out with no long term thought to their actions.

I have a Simpson with dial 20 years old. It works well. I use whichever top brand of powder is cheapest.

Fixed it.

reduce amount of finish stuff a lot. We had same problem. Old models cant cope with too much new product.

Cheers Ill blame it on baby brain

Do you mean laundry washing machine powder like persil automatic, drive, rinso, coldpower?

maccachic1, Aug 27, 9:43pm
That's the one guess cos it looked the same she figured she would use that.

must be all the GE enzymes in the new product.
