I'm wondering about changing the colour of my old 1970s red brick house. Painted brick requires regular maintenance, but staining last longer and leaves the bricks still breathable.
Is this something that I can do DIY, or would I need professionals to do it?

Spray it yourself with a weed sprayer, easy, do a test area at the back of the house.

If it’s clay brick, leave it. Low maintenance.
Once you paint or stain anything you have maintenance.
Maintenance costs you dollars.
I would look at modernising in other ways if I was you.
Double glaze the windows, new roof, paint wooden areas under eaves etc. smart new plants in modern pots, new deck (unpainted lol).
I love painted houses, I just don’t like maintaining them that’s all.
Brick all the way.
