Servicing a petrol mower

borolad, Apr 21, 12:55pm
Hi, just want to attempt a service on petrol mower for first time, mower is just a standard type. It was last serviced 2-3 years ago by local company but they are running couple of weeks behind, so thought I would give it a go myself. It’s in working condition at moment and start up no problem, should I be looking at replacing usual parts (oil/air filter, spark plug) and of course will be filling with new oil. Anything I’ve missed? Thanks for any advice

Clean and lube everything that moves

Linkages, cables, wheels, handle bar etc

Use a good lubricating spray.

remove carby bowl, (one screw or bolt) and check for dirt/water. Maybe change fuel filter if it has one.

Clean air filter. Wash in detergent and fully fry before replacing. Soa spark plug in meths and scrub connection with steel wool.

If it's anything like servicing a cow make sure it's turned off first.
