our lawn is looking terrible now we are into winter, sort of yellowing appearing over lawn. does it need fertilzer and if so what does it need?

Probably too wet.
Aerate it and let it dry.

Blood and bone all year round to feed it and improve the root system.
Iron Suphate to kill the moss - rake the black/dead moss out after a week.
Cropmaster20 to make it grow - wait till srping for that!
Banvine to kill broadleafs.
Spot roundup to kill paspalum then scratch fresh seeds in around Oct.
Every 3rd mow drop the blades right down low and let it chew off any high spots - after a couple of years there will be none.

It'll look a million dollars.

That sounds like a lot of hard work and money
Think I,ll stick to my meadow

Thank you tegretol. I have noted your comments and I will be following your advice.

I consider anything which grows on the lawn to be grass, there is heaps of different types of grass, generic grass, clover grass, moss grass, broadleaf grass, dandelion grass, buttercup grass, all sorts.

It is getting a little muddy at the moment, probably shouldn't have mowed it a month ago.

Wow that's a lot of poison to go into the ground. A Bowling Club I know of used to use all sorts of things to keep the green in perfect condition for play. When the Club disbanded, the area was deemed unsafe to use as a housing development as it was considered to be hazardous.
Let's be honest, a lawn is just a lawn, don't get too an-l about it!

Not so. Each line stands on its own.

tegretol, Jun 30, 6:43am
Poison?
Assuming that you were awake and listening during Science, you'll know that Cropmaster and Iron Sulphate are organic.
If you don't like using roundup then you shouldn't be on this thread.

At the end of the day, if you want a nice lawn then you have to put in the effort.

Look everything is made out of naturally occurring materials, doesn't mean it isn't toxic.

Goat or sheep or two.

Doesn't take much basic care or time to get a dam good looking lawn. Biggest issue is getting it flat!

penwill1, Jul 3, 8:25pm
How do you put the blood and bone on please

starseeker, Jul 14, 6:04pm
Thank you tygertung, well said
