Hi

I live in wgtn, the door that goes to the deck (timber)house built 1974 opens pretty freely in summer but in winter and the colder months its really tight when opening, sometimes have to force it open,is this something to do with the change of weather! as I did ease the bottom edge a few years ago.its a timber door with a glass panel.Opinions much appreciated please:)

Whe wet timber swells so yes.will stick in winter.

I had the opposite problem in one house I had.stuck in summer and free in winter lol

yes door or door frame swelling from the extra moisture in the air

you should be able to see marks left on the door where it sticks,
either plane a little off or use a electric sander etc
probably would not require much taken off

if no marks on door including the top, the door will have to be taken off hinges as it will be on the bottom

whatever you do make sure you seal all edges of the door to prevent moisture causing the cells in the timber to swell. if it's pine joinery it'll swell a lot more than ceder as it's not as stable
