I read recently that planting a rotten banana under each Tom plant will produce a better crop, so have followed the advice with my ten plants. So far they appear to look very healthy.

An old guy told me years ago to put a teaspoon of milk powder under each plant. I have done this and the plants do very well, not sure it they would produce less without the powder. I presume it would be the calcium that gives them a boost.

I've tried corn cobs and fish remains. Couldn't tell if any improvement was the "secret" or just a good year in the soil/location. Some of my best fruiters have been planted on a steep exposed northern hilside, into clay.

The first step to having a great Tomato crop is hardening the plants off before planting them out. Soil preparation is important, then feeding them once a week after the first truss of flowers appear. ðŸ…
