Looking at either a Bunnings (Kaboodle) or a Mitre 10 kitset kitchen, not the cheap more upper mid end. Anyone any experiences?

No experience here but we are thinking along the same lines.

Unless you're extremely adept at DIY for the installation, I would seriously recommend getting comparable quotes from professional kitchen design companies for supply and install.
I work with professional kitchen design companies as well as builders that install Mega kitchens - there's way less problems with the professionals, and usually the whole job is done in 1-2 days - instead of sometimes weeks for the builders to complete the work.
The professionals could be a few thousand $$ more, but usually it's worth the money for a better product and hassle free installation.

I do appreciate your input, the only problem is finding a professional up here, most of them booked out for 18 months or else all the good ones have gone to auckland. The standard of some the tradies up here is scary.

We use these ones. https://uduit-diy.co.nz/ As long as you get your measurements correct and can use a screwdriver it's a piece of choccy cake. eta IMHO Kaboodle are absolute junk for the horrendous price.

My Mitre 10 kitchen is exactly what I wanted , designed by the kitchen planner at store. They gave me names of installers that had been used and recommended by previous customers and the one that did mine was very professional and did an excellent job of removing the existing kitchen and installing my new one. I have also had a single kitchen bench unit replaced with a kitset in a rental I owned and got a local builder to do it. It took him nearly a whole day to assemble it (plus 1/2 day to install) .

We recently installed a kaboodle kitchen from Bunnings. No problems at all. Take accurate measurements and use them on their online kitchen planner. You can then see it in plan view and also 3D. When you have the layout you want you can print off a list of cabinets, benchtops, handles etc required to do the job. Don't forget to put in your kick panels, cupboard end panels, cutlery inserts etc. We found the whole process very easy, and the kitchen looks great.

I priced a Mitre 10 kitset but ended up getting mine through Placemakers at a slightly higher price, the selection of cabinets was better, Mitre 10 had 2 blind corner cupboards whereas the lady at Placemakers was able to fit 2 corner units, one with a rotary shelving unit, assembly and installation was a breeze

No need for corner cupboards these days, I have lovely drawers that pull out where a corner cupboard would have been---the ones that everything at the back and hard to reach, gets forgotten about.

We installed a mitre 10 one about 20 months ago. Involved a couple of sets of soft close drawers, some cabinets and a 'peanut' pull out corner unit (Le Mans Hafele) and quaker style cabinet doors so would be about upper-mid too. It was in an 85 year old house - walls not plum, corners not 90 degrees. Aside from the plumbing, we did the installation ourselves. It did take a couple of days due to dealing with everything being slightly out of alignment but we still managed it fine. Did install sink ourselves too and bench top.

We had a mitre 10 one. We had it installed by a builder as our kitchen walls were not plumb. Very pleased with it.

Ive had a joinery company cut mine to a flatpack, and a family member who is an installer will install it.
