Cleaning a painted deck?

rosess, Nov 26, 2:53pm
Can anyone suggest a good product/method for cleaning a painted deck that will help remove dirt and a bit of algae, whilst leaving the paint and surrounding plant life intact? (Very large area of decking). Cheers.

scrap with a hard deck brush and a bucket off water with sugar soap, then hose down, best cleaning product for decks and cheap as well.

A soft bristle broom works better than a sponge. A sponge is inclined to catch and rip if the deck has even a few rough spots.

We used Hit the Deck from Wet and Forget - it sure got rid of the gunge we had on our deck

I've used Cabot's deck clean & it did a good job.

thanks everyone, sugar soap cleaned but didn't really move the algae so I will try some of the other suggestions.

Wet and forget is the best algae killer but household bleach is also good on a mostly clean surface - just remember that chlorine attacks plants so watch the drip line!
