Drying garlic

Have just dug a few garlic up and will hang in garage to dry. I presume you leave the leaves as they are to die back into the bulbs but do you leave all the roots on or can they be trimmed.

Trim the roots, plait the leaves to make a rope, and enjoy all winter .

The actually continue to draw nutrition from the leaves as they die back from the tip end, so always leave the leaves on.
This is more evident in young garlic. Pick young garlic and hang it, and you will notice that as the leaves die back, the bulb continues to grow, till the leaves are completely dead and the bulb grows no more.
