Has anyone got a screw-in fitting for my old out-door glass shade . I think they are called nautical and look like a medium sized jar but with rounded bottom - I can send a photo

I would try salvage yards, were common once. Think i saw some complete units at musgroves recently(christchurch), and various old brass bits and pieces. But unless keen to stick with it, you could be cheaper off, to just replace with a modern led light.
Unless it is the same size thread as a PDL14 I think you may struggle to find something. You may have to find a clever bugger that can turn you up a holder with screws in the side to hold up your shade. You will have to run a low wattage lamp so as no to cook the fitting. Very doable.

as Kwaka says very doable, find someone with some skills and a lathe, pick up some scrap millable plastic. Or maybe a metal worker with some good skills. These fittings used to be everywhere and I remember them as outside lights in industrial places. The base was usually black bakelite, you may be lucky to find one at a recycle store, with a 5/8 conduit thread in the back.

It's called a well glass fitting.
There were a couple of types from around the 1930s onward. The screw in glass type was a later version I think.
There might be a new fitting that can be put on to the old steel conduit. Or just replace the whole fitting.
If it still has the old wiring, the electrician should replace the wire with new.
I had some out door lights looked identical to your photo, Will look in shed tomorrow.
