Which flowers last

longest in baskets (hanging) I'm thinking of the ones in the streets they seem to last along time perhaps the fairies replenish at night. I'm surrounded by wooden fences and thought I'd do a thing with guttering.

Petunias are pretty good, lovely colours

Guttering being so shallow may create work for you keeping the moisture up.

Just use sphagnum moss in the guttering.

If you have a shaded area, the best plants in my opinion are impatiens.
Hubby built some wooden 'troughs' that he attached to the wooden fence, then we planted some coloured BABA POTS that I buy from the warehouse. (They're biodegradable) with impatiens and they flowers all summer, Eventually we had a cascade of colour due to three of the troughs being fitted in a tiered manner.

Right now we have polyanthus planted in them, and they look great too.

For a sunny position, I agree with petunias, but wont touch calibrachoa or other hybrids. They invariably get covered in aphids, and spraying results in damaged plants that take a long time to recover. just long enough for another infestation, I've found.

We have another tiered lot of troughs actually fastened to the front wall of the house. They draw a lot of excellent comments and in those we planted portulacca. THEY also looked great for many months.
