As I planted the last begonia and several other flower plants I realised I had been using theVegetable potting mix What can I do to correct the 'mixture' as I'm assuming I'll get lots of leafy growth and whimpy flowers ?

Don't panic, your flowers won't realise they're actually vegetables. . promise

Pauline-Dirt is dirt. Was your grandmother worried about this?

You should check the NPK ratios. If the veg one has high nitrogen, you will get lots of leaf growth. If it is high K(potassium) then you will get more flowers.
I think your post indicates you already know this, but just in case! So you might want to add potassium- I'd ask at a garden centre.
