I saw them in Kings and was intrigued till I spotted the price.
And then, this morning, there they were in little punnets on special at Countdown. Hmmmmm, I thought.

That's how I got my favourite tomato plants. Seeds from some I bought at a supermarket, and have grown them from saved seed ever since. They bred true too. Mine that is, don't know about those. depends if they are a hybrid or not. but give it a go.

I've done that too. This year I have seedlings of 3 different coloured small tomatoes from the Tasty brand sold in New World. I just sliced them, put the slices on top of some potting mix, and sprinkled a bit more potting mix over the slices. They are now about 2-3 cm high and ready to plant into bigger pots.

I've done it from dried seed, but I couldn't wait, so I'm hoping mine mirror yours dbab! I'll be speaking tenderly to them daily, lol.
$15 a pot, stuff that!

I've done it & it works! I often save parts of especially tasty bought tomatoes, just cos I can ;o) The buggers are popping up in the top of the compost & in the glass house right now . just wish they had labels! Anyway hunni, I'm almost ready to start digging :o) Have taken note of the white ones as well. Another question you asked recently was about aquatic plants, ahem. if you google a ChCh place called The Water Garden & e mail them, they should be able to advise & tell you where you can purchase them in your area . good luck ;o)

Yes, the less said about my lotus experiment the better. I'll stick to the aquarium version - my little tiger lotus has put out a pup already, and I'm seriously considering putting it out on the deck once the temperature is safe to see if it will produce a flower for me - which google tells me it will do if allowed to behave naturally.
We'll see. I may have to list a few aquarium plants towards the end of the week - my tank is just too lush, and I have five new platy babies to find clear water swimming space for.
