Painting a Butynol roof. Any ideas?

We've had Butynol on a seaside roof for over 50 years. It doesn't seem to deteriorate. I'd just wash it and leave it alone.

However:

PAINTING OVER BUTYNOL®

Use Ardex WPM 908. Wash with Sugar Soap. Beware of using non Ardex primers as this may effect your Butynol® Warranty.

50 years is amazing for a product with a 20 year warranty. I’ve see it fail so regularly, I’d never contemplate using it on a property of mine.

To be fair though GD, the failures I've seen have all been through poor jointing techniques, particularly where there is a change of plane and into a corner, or poor substrate that has allowed flexing of a joint etc. The actual product seems quite long lasting. It always used to be protected with an aluminium type of paint, presumably to reflect sunlight. Not sure if this is the norm now.
There is now a couple of other products available now that do seem thicker and more substantial than Butynol. time will tell I guess.
