On our rental that tenant left in a disgusting state, we are now paying the power whilst doing repairs, but on the meter box it does not say which switch for hot water and the last bill is quite large (for an empty place) how do I know which switch to turn off for hot water cyclinder. Thank you.

Fuse box rather than meter box? Would pay to identify switches while you have the chance.
