Any ideas on the best way to do this!

Wire netting or bird netting.

I use 50mm green plastic coated hex netting (available from M10 etc), keeps birds and cats out without too much visual impact.

I use the black bird netting (but my pond is black also so well hidden). I have staked it around the edge with black plastic weedmat pegs, and even better I find are the plassay stakes with the hexagonal head that hold your irrigation hose in place. With those I hook the netting over the hex head, don't have to remove the stake to access the pond.

I reckon black netting is the most unnoticeable & I have used the weedmat U shaped things but I will look at your idea koru .sounds good & easy access would be a super plus.

I use shade cloth - the green stuff, and glued velcro tabs onto it, and the pond - keeps the cats out too, and helps keep debris out :)

We have run fishing line criss crossed across the pond, almost invisible but as kingfishers dive and herons wade they cannot do this also close enough to the edge cats can't get clear access either.
