I normally grow my own but this year i didn't. I have been searching for new season garlic at several of my local supermarkets and they are all imported garlic which i do not want. Is there a national shortage atm?
Fresh garlic is just the best and i am hanging out for some!

They are harvesting and grading it locally, orders are going out. Competition from imported garlic I understand, American. This wet might slow things for a little.

We have not long past the shortest day, when It is supposed to be harvested. Allow a few weeks for drying and packaging before being marketed.

The longest day? Anyway, I'm enjoying the fresh NZ garlic I was lucky enough to buy a few days ago.

I thought that most of the garlic crop was wiped out by "rust" last year and was the reason fresh and seed supplies were virtually nil. Places like NZGarlic has no sales last season.

Youre alilltle mixed up there. You traditionally plant on the shortest day (around 22nd June) and harvest on the longest (around 22nd December)
I still have not found any, been to 2 different supermarkets from my normal looking for it. Sad face! Will keep trying. I refuse to buy imported garlic.

That’s such a bummer! I am on gardening pages on FB and there is a lot of people complaining about rust in their garlic. :/
