Gas Certificate of Compliance for hot water system

does anyone have an accurate answer to whether or not this Certificate expires at some date after it was originally issued (at the time of installation of the system) ?, and if so, how often does the system need checking/the Certificate need reissuing? Thanks a lot for any knowledgeable answers.

A Gas Safety Certificate issued by the gasfitter expires around five seconds after it is presented to you. Like electrical certification, gas certification is a point in time statement from the licensed person that they followed the rules and that they believe the system is safe to use.

The 'rules'; the installation codes and equipment approvals are meant to provide the longevity of the installation. Industry advice would be to have your gas installation checked every couple of years.

ETA
There is also, of course, the CGA if you you are a consumer. The gasfitter has provided you with a service.

Thanks for that, so, technically, does the gas Certificate Of Compliance need renewing periodically to satisfy any laws/regulations/insurance company?

No the certification is only to say it was installed to standard . No further testing is required . .same as an electrical certificate . If in the event of an insurance claim they may want to see them .

One more thing, you've been asking about a Certificate of Compliance (CoC).

The gas regulations require a Gas Safety Certificate (GSC) for *all* gasfitting work. With the exception of minor work, the GSC should also be accompanied by a CoC. Most gasfitters issue the certificates on a combined GSC/CoC form.

If you have a piece of paper that only says CoC then you have been given incomplete certification.
