We have a older Telefunken mini audio system (model TNE288) in our bedroom. The on/off on the remote doesn't work that well and I think it may be worn out. Can I buy a cheap universal remote to replace it. Mostly just want it to turn it off and on. We don't change stations or listen to CDs. Mute and volume would be nice to have.

You can get a keypad repair kit. Do a search for "rubber keypad repair" What you may be able to do is to open it up and clean the board with some meths. If that doesn't work I have cut out buttons not used and transplanted them where I wanted it.

It doesn't have a rubber keypad. It has a plastic thing with slightly raised areas.
