In the vege garden what do people use im sick of the dam weeds popping heir ugly lil heads up.

Mulch. Doesn't stop them 100% but it sure does keep them to a minimum. Also helps keep the moisture in, and improves the soil when it rots down. Leaves do marvelous things to the soil and work well as mulch.

It's largely a matter of keeping in front of their seed cycle. Mulch reduces their ability to grow and generally makes it easier to pull them out, but you GOTTA get them before they go to seed. Ultimately, you cannot completely prevent them as the seeds can blow into the garden from anywhere.
I guess a glass house is one way to pretty much eliminate the problem.
