So if my plants are huge, very close together with a few flowers each chances are they need a good feed of something to encourage flowering. Is thrive enough! Or else blood and bone strawberry food or worm tea! Ive seen one bee for pollination. and cant even see pollen to try the paintbrush method.

Feeding is a must however the plant may not flower or set fruit until it is warm enough. My suggestion is to get a Tomato Fertiliser (Tui do one) because it is made up especially for tomatoes.Too much nitrogen in fertilisers gives you lovely green plants but is not always conducive to flowering. If your plants are very close together, it may be beneficial to trim back some of the leaves to ensure good air flow around the plant. This will help (but may not stop) keep fungal diseases at bay.I also remove any leaves that touch the ground so that they don't stay damp.

an old trick for pollinating tomatoes is to gently shake the plants each day

I plant my Tomatoes in compost and feed them worm juice, seems to work for me.

I used potato fertiliser on my tomatoes at planting time and they are looking good and healthy. Did the same last year and got a massive crop where many people had a low yield. I also fed them weekly with my 'pooh tea' a mixture of horse manure and seaweed left to soak in a big rubbish bin with a clip on lid. As for pollination, just getting in amongst them tying up and weeding from plant to plant makes you the pollinator.

Grass Tea is good for tomatoes. When you mow your lawns put a good handful or two in a bucket fill it up with water and let the grass brew for a few days. Can get a little smelly but your tomatoes will really love it. Strain out the grass, which can go around the base as a mulch. Put your strained tea in bottles - I use coke bottles - and add to a watering can every few days.
