Dish water that has dish washing liquid in it. Or put banana skins at the bottom of your roses cut up.

the soapy water works well, add a touch of cooking oil as well, and spray on in a strong direct jet from a spray bottle. The cooking oil helps the spray adhere to the plant (so I've been told)

Grow a vege plant next to them, let it go to flowering - the aphids will go to that as the sugar's in the vege plant change as it goes to seed. An oldie and a goodie way to keep aphids off roses, and you get the seeds from the vege plant, plus the vege flowers are great bee and butterfly food.

Plant garlic under your roses in early spring .Too late for this now, sorry. Put cut up cucumber on aluminium dishes under the roses , Plant crysanthimums under them Spray every week-10 days with rose spray. All of the above.
