Roof on deck

We have a deck off our 2nd story living room. We are rebuilding it, and the husband wants to put a roof over the deck ( so we can use the space in all weather)
I want the railings on the deck to be a solid unit ( so that you can't see through gaps, for privacy), but I'm worried that with a solid wall of railings and the roof on top, that the area will feel too claustrophobic
I have been searching for images on the internet, but can't find anything relevant. Have you done anything like this! What kind of railings have you used! I did want to do weatherboards. but its just too expensive.

Where to go for deck inspiration!!

We did a deck early this year as a reclad with w/bds.With the watertight code today it can become very involved as you need to water proof around the posts supporting the wall and you will need an internal water recess to remove the water from the deck.it can be very involved and expensive. If you have an existing handrail which you should have ,why can't you line one side with a hardies and have it textured.Believe me to build a new wall on a 2nd floor deck can be very involved if you want to build it to code.As for the roof you can build a pergola type structure and cover it with tinted lazer sheet. That way you get the protection but won't feel too closed in.

Check the weather
If it is very windy putting up a solid structure will make it more windy on your deck.
Wind hits the solid sheet & goes straight over the top into your decking.
If it is say boards with a gap between it will break the wind up .
Just a thought.

I built a deck with corrogated iron panels as the handrail(like trellis) and put a pergola with clearlite over it, it was great as you could use it when it was wet. wasn't claustrophobic at all.
