Agree with mallow. They spread like wildfire, be warned!

And very edible too. Didn't know that until my cousins mother in law was visiting from Australia and picked some I had in my garden and cooked it up. It tastes like a very mild silver beet or spinach, and is cooked the same way.

The sap from the mallow growing in marshes was originally used to make marshmallow confectionery, hence the name, although gelatine is used these days.

Mine was identified as a mallow too.

Since this photo I've moved it against another fence because it was muscling out my miniature rose. I've occasionally trimmed it in passing otherwise its been left to its own devices.

I presume MIL boiled it up just like spinach?!
