Transplanting fully grown peach trees

I'm guessing 4 -5 years old it would be out of the ground for a couple of days and pruned before hand. What is the success rate likely to be?

you have to keep them from drying out . there was a big tree shifted in wellington some years ago and every branch was wrapper in plastic . i believe it lived . might pay to ask in some of the garden centres

It should be no problem at all during this time of the year, although if its a large tree you may need to use a 1.5 tonne digger to lift it and replant it so that it ends up with plenty of roots. Trim any damaged roots back with a straight cut.

I would say that there is a 50-50 chance of success. It should be done immediately as it wont' be long until the roots start growing again and it would be much more stressful on the tree. Sever the surface roots at the dripline with a spade a week before the big move.

A lot of effort, when you can buy another one for $20 dollars that will be much the same age.
