Yep - Ring and discuss. There are so many variables.

About $2500-$3k inc the unit is what I've paid a couple of times for rentals - that's with easy access to a space outside for the external unit

Around $1k for a good install. If its more complex or you want the outdoor unit situated away then it may be more.

We just bought one from Harvey Norman, who charged us the "Standard" installation price of $900. Has yet to be installed though, so it could be more or less.

Easy Back to back installs for us is $700+gst (indoor one side of wall, outdoor other side of same wall within a short distance).
Needing a new circuit to switchboard is extra.
Putting indoor on an internal wall will often mean a drain pump added, good quality ones can add 400, cheap junk 150-200.
Long pipe runs thru ceiling or floor to other side of house, and/or extra trunking and elbows etc can push to $1200+ (or more in worst cases)

But as others say, these are mearly examples, get quotes from a firm you or friends trust, there are plenty off rip offs, and also cheap idiots who do crap work and use the cheapest junk parts they can get.
